Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need special preparation for the exam?

Preparation varies according to the type of exam requested. Our team guides each patient on the specific recommendations at the time of scheduling.

What is the difference between pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound?

Pelvic ultrasound is performed through the abdomen, usually with a full bladder. Transvaginal ultrasound uses a specific transducer inserted through the vaginal canal, allowing more detailed visualization of the uterus and ovaries.

Does the ultrasound exam hurt?

Generally, no. There may be slight discomfort during the transvaginal exam, but the procedure is quick and performed with great care by our team.

What is ultrasound used for in gynecology?

It is a fundamental exam to assess the uterus, ovaries and other pelvic structures — helping diagnose fibroids, cysts, endometriosis and other conditions, in addition to monitoring treatments.

Is the result available right away?

Since it is a real-time exam, the assessment is made during the procedure and the report is released according to the clinic’s routine. In consultations that include the exam, the result can already be discussed with the patient.
